3rd
Generation PSA
***OUR LABORATORY
IS NOW OFFERING A NEW TEST***
- The 3rd Generation PSA Assay
- "PSA-positive tumors showed improved disease-free
and overall survival over women with PSA-negative tumors"
- THIS NEW ULTRASENSITIVE METHOD HAS THE LOWEST
MARGIN OF ERROR DUE TO ITS EXTREMELY HIGH SENSITIVITY, PROVIDING HIGHER
ACCURACY THAN IS COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE.
- The 3rd Generation PSA test, because of its extremely
high sensitivity, detects levels of PSA in postradical prostatectomy
patients. However, nonprostatic PSA can be found in female sera that
may be of great importance in breast, ovarian, and other tumors.
- Recent clinical research has further confirmed
the role of PSA in the management of various nonprostatic cancers, most
significantly breast tumors.
- Immunofluorometric studies were conducted to analyze
serum samples from postradical prostatectomy and breast cancer patients.
As a result, very low PSA levels were found in postradical prostatectomy
patients, especially by the utilization of the 3rd Generation PSA test.
The exceptionally high sensitivity of the test, used by American Metabolic
Laboratories, 0.003 ng/mL, allows earlier detection of PSA after prostatectomy.
- Women with breast cancer demonstrated a favorable
prognosis when PSA was present in tumor cystol, i.e. PSA-positive tumors
showed improved disease-free and overall survival over women with PSA-negative
tumors. It has been reported also that PSA levels in nipple aspirate
were inversely correlated with breast cancer risk.
- Specimen Requirements : 200 - 500 µL serum
or aspirate
- CPT code : 84153
- Price : $64.00
- Thank you for your attention and support,
